UP UP & AWAY

Up Up & Away brings together new work by Soup Studio resident alumni Clare Kim, Megan Lee, and Yen Yen Chou, celebrating the momentum and evolution of our extended creative family. This exhibition marks a moment of shared growth: Clare stepping from the flat plane into three-dimensional form, Yen Yen mounting her first out-of-tristate solo show with Kishka Gallery, and Megan relocating to Hong Kong to continue building an art and design practice.

Clare’s sculptures rise from the same intuitive, child-guided curiosity that drives her drawing, painting, and ceramic work. She follows the small signals—memories, textures, moments of wonder—that open pathways between mediums. Her pieces trace the subtle threads linking us to each other and to the quieter forms of magic that surface when we slow down enough to notice.

Yen Yen’s work turns everyday encounters into portals of transformation. By pairing motifs that don’t usually share space—rainbows and Pocky sticks, sparkles and bow ties, mushrooms and eyes—she builds a visual language that hovers between the ephemeral and the physical, the micro and the macro. Her layered watercolor, gouache, and mixed-media processes accumulate like lived experience, revealing how emotions and sensations shift shape over time.

Megan’s new series distills wide clover fields into reflections on abundance, gratitude, and the gentle surprise of luck. Each four-leaf clover becomes less a rare discovery and more an exercise in attention: look long enough, slowly enough, closely enough, and the world starts offering gifts that were waiting there all along.

Together, these artists chart upward motion that is personal, geographic, and artistic. Up Up & Away is a reminder that growth gathers through curiosity, patience, and the willingness to follow the next small spark.

Join us for an opening reception on Thursday, December 18th, from 7-9pm.
