Sophie Hardeman, a fashion and fine arts graduate of Amsterdam’s prestigious Gerrit Rietveld Academie, set up a denim studio in Amsterdam in 2015 and opened a boutique there in 2018, at the age of 27. Her clothes were fairly successful in her native Amsterdam, where her first collections were presented at Van Ravenstein. After presenting her work as part of the V Files Runway in February 2016, at Spring Studios in New York City, initiated by V Magazine, she branched out successfully to Paris in 2016 and created the the label “Hardeman”.
Hardeman is known for her minimalist, deconstructivist, and often severe designs. Her fashion house became famous in the early 2000’s for its simple but refined designs, its gender defying denim collections, and the use of symbolism re-occurring within daily life.
