More than anything else, food and drink are tied to a sense of place and belonging. The Cafe at Chinatown Soup is inspired by Gordon Matta-Clark, a pioneer artist of 1970s SoHo who recognized this synergy and opened FOOD, a restaurant that celebrated cultivating creativity and community over consumption. Hiring baristas who participate in our residency program or otherwise make art through Soup furthers our founding mission to support emerging artists and foster new connections.

We present a cafe that blends into its surroundings and gives back to the people it serves. With a menu that sources an eclectic product mix characteristic of neighborhood tastes, featuring direct trade Colombian espresso, loose-leaf Chinese teas, and signature vegan snacks provided by local chefs, Soup is an inclusive place that brings people together.
