NUKHU FEST

Everyone has a story, but sharing stories often equates to spending money.

The Nukhu Foundation provides creative, technical, and financial support to filmmakers who do not have the resources to develop, produce, and market their stories. This past week, we welcomed them at Chinatown Soup for an inaugural public workshop series and fundraiser.

#nukhufest is an annual event for filmmakers and fans that culminates around selecting the Best Nuvee film. Viewers like you helped decide the winner of a $3,000 development-to-distribution grant, presented to Jairus Williams for “WEIGHT” (2022) at the nukhuball award ceremony.

Nukhu members also taught about film distribution, crafting your story, freelancing, staffing your next film production, and customer service at daily seminars in Soup Gallery.

Founded by Sanjay Singh in 2010, the nukhu community comprises emerging artists and industry professionals worldwide who strive for media diversity and representation of humanity.

The entertainment industry is profit-driven and highly competitive, so legacy business relationships have excluded talent diversity and resulted in an overwhelming amount of media owned by a uniform, wealthy class of global elites.

To help eliminate prejudice and discrimination within creator communities, the Nukhu Foundation invests in the next generation of storytellers who will grow a more inclusive space where independent artists are represented and heard.

Congrats to the nukhu team for a successful experience, and special thanks to Derrick Adams and BOmbay Sapphire for your support.
